-Onegin was more traditional
-Leonce and Lena was much more modern
Highlights of each ballet
-Onegin: The way the partner dancers danced together and made everything so seem less, even when the women were in pointe shoes. When they were dancing in pointe shoes and they came down from a leap you couldn’t hear the shoes tap or anything it was amazing.
-Leonce and Lena: the set changes for this show were super cool, the stage had a rotating disc that had three different scene sets. Each scene the disc rotated with the dancers on it and they acted out their scene all the way until the stage had turned enough for the next scene to show. It honestly blew my mind the first time a set changed.
Highlights of the Pit Orchestra
-Onegin: the bassoon player was phenomenal, she was playing with a beautiful tone and was still able to play extremely hard runs and blend with the entire pit orchestra
-Leonce and Lena: the tuba player had the fullest sound and played out very confidently.
Now these things make sense because they are some of the top musicians, but it is still amazing to hear.
Both of these Ballets were amazing and fun to watch but they were very different. It was nice to see differences since the only ballet I have ever seen, or at least remember seeing, is The Nutcracker.
I am having a blast here and am so blessed to be able to travel. I will be posting a couple more blogs soon!
