Prague Performance

I talked about some adventures we had in Prague, but there were some pretty cool performances we also attended while we were there. We saw three shoes while in Prague, it was supposed to be four, but we had the time wrong for the opera and missed that show. However, one of the first nights there was a really fun czech folklore dinner show with a really fun folk band and dancers who would often bring volunteers on stage to dance. That was such a fun night because the music was really good and we all enjoyed everything that was being served. That was definitely one of the most fun nights of the trip so far.

A few nights later we went to an octet performance that was amazing. There were two oboes, two bassoons, two French horns and two clarinets for the main portion of the performance. They played some Mozart, which was really interesting to hear the different textures of the instruments combine to play Mozart. Then the second portion a solo vocalist came out, Peter Schöne, where the performed eight of twelve songs from Mahler that was quite spectacular because of how animated the singer was.

One of the last nights in Prague we met up with another PLU group and went to dinner then a ballet together. We all went and say Leonce and Lena, a very contemporary ballet that was based on an old satiric play that was rejected from a competition because of late entry. The ballet was really cool with set design, costumes, and music, however, I was not expecting more contemporary style dancing so I was very much taken off guard when I was expecting classical ballet with point shoes and smooth lines. It was a really good experience to see something unexpected like this ballet. I really enjoyed it and the music was very recognizable, I'm very glad we went to this performance.
