This city continues to
amaze me even when our group has gone to the next city, Prague. Trust me,
you'll hear more about Prague in my next post. On the 8th, all of us had some
free time to look around the city and do what we wanted to do. Well, Benjamin and
I decided that we would look online at "fun things to do in Vienna"
and one of the top ten things was an amusement park. So, we decided to go over
to that location even though its January and it would be more than likely
closed. But, we had a few hours so why not go take a look?
We hopped on a tram and
went a few stops to a place called Prater. Once we got off the tram we had to
walk about a quarter of a mile and then saw a huge wheel. We knew that we had
found what we were looking for! We got closer and closer and realized that we
were indeed correct that it would be closed... but we kept going. As we got to
the front, we found that it was not like any amusement park in America, it did
not have a gate around it, it was just open. Well, of course, we did not stop
there! Benjamin and I walked through the entire park. While it had an eerie
vibe to it, it was jaw dropping. This park was huge, and open. There were a ton
of people there and they were walking around and some running for exercise.
But, the park was dead, except for a few rides.
About those few rides...
they were in the middle of the park and the one that stood out the most was the
bumper cars. The music was BLARING and at first I thought it was just playing
music at random but then Benjamin pointed out that there was a worker in the
booth. Then, we realized there were a couple rides open but we decided it
probably was not the best idea to go on any because there were only a couple
open and no one else was going on them... seemed a little too sketchy for my
liking.
I look forward to
writing my next post about the city we are in now, Prague!
