The serendipity of getting lost

The best days so far have undoubtedly included getting lost and stumbling upon a beautiful cathedral, a historic fort and even a friendly dog in a window looking for some pets. I have found the best adventures usually include climbing a hill or spire to get a beautiful view which means were walking about 10 miles and climbing 80 floors.  Both yesterday and today were “getting lost days” and I saw Prague in all its beauty. It started by climbing a hill to a fake Eiffel Tower which gave an amazing view of the city. Later that day we stumbled upon an island in the middle of the Vltava River so we saw the city from up high and down low. Today entailed wandering old town then more or less picking a place on the map to explore. This led us to an old fort that sat hundreds of feet above the city. Atop the fort was an entirely functioning city with a beautiful cathedral and a cemetery where Dvorak rests.

Often times the adventure starts with a goal in mind, but it takes us four hours to go somewhere that should take 30 minutes because we see a cathedral, historic wall or even a cemetery in the other direction and we have to go. More often than not, finding exciting monuments is more important than food so by the end of the day we realize how hungry we are from all the walking.
